Ismail Afia

Ismail Afia earned a BSc in communication engineering from Benha University in 2004, a Diploma in information security from the Information Technology Institute in 2007, and a Master of Engineering in information security from Nile University in 2020. With over 15 years of experience in the information security field, Ismail has served as the corporate information security manager for the largest financial institution in the Middle East and as the Security Operation Center (SOC) manager for the largest digital operator in Egypt. Currently, Ismail is a research assistant (PhD candidate) in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC, Canada, with research interests in applied cryptography and privacy-preserving protocols.
